Notification Issues and Fixes on Android

This article applies only to the Android version of Celo.

If you are having issues with your notifications on Celo, the following sections may help fix them.

Disable Battery Optimisation

Battery optimisation is known to cause delays with real-time notifications. Check the appropriate version of your Android device and follow the instructions below to disable it.

Android version 6.01+

For devices running Android version 6.0.1 and newer, check that your battery optimization is not preventing Celo from sending you notifications:

  1. From the app drawer, Press Settings.
  2. Select Battery.
  3. Press the Overflow menu icon and choose Battery Optimization.
  4. Press the downward caret and select All apps.
  5. Press Celo, then press Don't optimize.
Android version 7+
  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Find and press Celo.
  4. Select Battery, then press Battery Optimization.
  5. From here, select Apps not optimized option and change it to All apps.
  6. Find Celo in this list and set to Don't optimize.
Android version 9

For devices running Android version 9, make sure the Adaptive Battery Feature is not preventing Celo from sending you notifications:

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Select Battery.
  3. Choose Adaptive Battery.
  4. Press Restricted apps, and make sure Celo is not listed.

Switch off Background Restriction

By default, Background Restriction is switched off. If switched on, you may experience delays in receiving notifications.

To switch off Background Restriction:

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Open Apps, then All apps.
  3. Find and select Celo.
  4. Press Advanced, then Battery.
  5. Ensure that Background restriction is set to App can use battery in background.

Third-party apps

These third-party apps may be interfering with notifications. Follow the instructions below to fix this issue.

Clean Master
  1. Open Clean Master.
  2. Head to the Tools tab.
  3. Select the Notification Cleaner.
  4. Press the gear icon.
  5. Disable this feature for Celo only, or for all notifications.
Security Master
  1. Open Security Master.
  2. Head to the Notification Cleaner.
  3. Press the gear icon.
  4. Ensure that Celo is not selected and listed below Apps - Notifications Allowed.

Device-specific issues

Some Android devices and models have known issues with Celo notifications. Follow the instructions below for your device to fix them.

Asus Zenfone, Asus Zenfone 2
Zenfone (Android 7.0) Zenfone 2

Step 1: Set Celo to auto-start

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Power Management.
  3. Select Auto-start Manager.
  4. Find Celo and ensure it is enabled.

Step 2: List Celo as a protected app.

  1. From the app drawer, press Mobile Manager.
  2. Press Boost.
  3. Press Enable Super Boost, and select Protected app list.
  4. Verify that Celo is on the list.
Huawei Honor 6 & 8
Huawei Honor 6 Huawei Honor 8

Step 1: List Celo as a protected app

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Power Saving.
  3. Press Protected apps.
  4. Ensure that Celo is set to enable.

Step 2: Enable Celo in the Notification Manager

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Notification Manager.
  3. Select Notify for Celo to receive push notifications.
Huawei P8 Lite

Step 1: Enable Celo to run at startup

  1.  From the app drawer, tap Phone Manager.
  2.  Swipe left and tap Startup Manager.
  3.  Find and press Celo, and ensure that it is set to run automatically at system startup.

Step 2: Allow notifications from Celo

  1.  From the app drawer, press Phone Manager.
  2.  Swipe left and press Notification Manager.
  3.  Press Rules and ensure that Celo is set up to send notifications to the notification panel. Check if any other settings in this view may be blocking notifications.
Huawei Mate 8 & Huawei Nova Plus

Ensure that Celo is exempt from your device's battery optimization features:

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Advanced Settings.
  3. Press Battery Manager.
  4. Press Protected apps.
  5. Toggle Celo to enable.
Huawei P20 & P30
  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Apps.
  3. Select Celo.
  4. Select Power usage, followed by App launch.
  5. Toggle Manage automatically to Off.
  6. Then, toggle Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in Background to On.
LeEco/LeTV

Step 1: Enable Celo to run at startup

  1. From the app drawer, Press Settings.
  2. Press Permissions.
  3. Press Manage Auto Launch. If you have enabled any number of other apps to auto-launch, you will see You've enabled [n] apps to auto launch.
  4. Toggle Celo to enable.

Step 2: List Celo as a protected app

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Select Battery, then press Power saving management.
  3. Select App Protection.
  4. Toggle Celo to enable.

Note: If you have enabled Lock Screen Cleanup and Ultra Long Standby during Sleep, you must disable them to allow Celo notifications.

Lenovo

Enable the auto-start setting for the Celo app:

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Power Manager.
  3. Select Background app management.
  4. Ensure that Celo is set to Allow auto-start.
OnePlus & OnePlus 3
OnePlus (Android < 7.0) OnePlus (Android >8.0) OnePlus 3

For versions earlier than Android 8.0 Oreo, ensure that Celo is set to auto-launch:

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Apps.
  3. Press the settings.png gear icon in the top right.
  4. Select App Autolaunch.
  5. Toggle Celo to enable.
OPPO

Step 1: List Celo as a protected app

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Advanced Settings.
  3. Tap Battery Manager, then Protected Apps.
  4. Toggle Celo to enable protection.

Step 2: Ignore battery optimization for Celo

  1. Press Settings.
  2. Select Battery, then press Energy Saver.
  3. Find Celo and ensure that Freeze when in Background, Abnormal Apps Optimization and Doze are all disabled.

Step 3: Allow notifications from Celo

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Press Notification Panel & Status Bar.
  3. Press Notification Center.
  4. Find Celo and enable allow notifications and priority display.

Step 4: Add Celo to start up manager

  1. Open the Security app.
  2. Select Privacy Permissions, then Start up manager.
  3. Find Celo and ensure this setting is enabled.
Samsung

Step 1: Prioritize notifications from Celo

  1.  From the device drawer/shade, press Settings.
  2. Press Apps.
  3. Select Celo.
  4. Under App Setting, press Notifications.
  5. Select Messages & Mentions (then Advanced, if on Android 9).
  6. Select Do Not Disturb Custom Exception.

Step 2: Exclude Celo from battery optimization

  1. From the app drawer, press Settings.
  2. Tap Device management.
  3. Select Battery.
  4. Press Unmonitored apps.
  5. Add Celo to this list.
Xiaomi

Step 1: Check that Celo is given permission to autostart

  1. From the app drawer, press Security.
  2. Press Permissions.
  3. Press Autostart.
  4. Toggle Celo to enable.

Step 2: Ignore battery restrictions for Celo

  1. From the device drawer/shade, press Settings.
  2. Select Manage Apps’ Battery Usage.
  3. Press Apps.
  4. Select Celo, then press No Restrictions.

Step 3: Allow notifications from Celo

  1. From the device drawer/shade, press Settings.
  2. Select App Notifications.
  3. Select Celo.
  4. Ensure that Set as priority is enabled.
