Celo users can become trusted members of Celo's healthcare network through our verification process. Each level of verification elevates a user's status in the Celo Network and gives fellow colleagues more confidence that they are communicating with the right person.
Users are verified according to their identity, medical registration and/or inclusion in a verified workspace. A user's level of verification can be identified with the badge that appears next to their profile, as described below.
Levels of Verification
- Verified Profession

Celo users with this badge are registered medical practitioners who have provided proof that they are on a medical register for their country of practice.
Identity verification
is a prerequisite to ensure registration information is matched to a verified user. - Verified Identity

Celo users with this badge have had their identity verified: they have provided proof of their identity, which has been reviewed as legitimate.
- Verified Workspace

Celo users with this badge are members of a verified workspace.
- Unverified Users

Celo users with this badge are not part of a verified workspace and have not verified their identity and/or profession.
Exercise your judgement when providing sensitive information to unverified users, and make sure they truly are who they claim to be.
What documents do I need for verification?

You will need to provide proof of your medical registration in your country of practice. This may be a combination of the medical register that you are a part of along with your registration number, or a link to your online profile.
You will also need to have a verified identity

You will need:
- to be able to take a selfie photo
- a document proving your identity. This could be a passport, driver's licence, national identity card or a residence permit card.
What happens to my information during verification?

Your data (i.e. proof of your medical registration in your country of practice) is stored securely on Celo's servers and tied to your account.
- Verified Identity

Identity verification is passed onto Celo's trusted partner Onfido . Onfido checks the authenticity of your verification data and returns a result to Celo. Your information is kept only for as long as necessary to verify your identity — before being deleted.

How long does verification take?

The process takes 1-3 minutes with your registration details on hand, and approval after submission can take up to 48 hours.
